Hi Larry — Just wanted to let you know I just wrote this for a discussion question in my Counseling Skills II class (Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling):
The most effective supervisor I had was a gentleman named Larry Stuker, who managed the branch of Service Credit Union I worked for from 2006-2008. It did not come as a surprise when Larry was promoted to an assistant vice president position shortly after I left my position to move from New Hampshire to Arizona. His style was characterized by clear, concise, respectful communication and a positive, encouraging humor. I remember being intimidated by how forward he was. I was 22 years old when he hired me, and I came with a shoddy work ethic and a total lack of responsibility. He had several serious talks with me about a variety of subjects, and each time I walked away with a sense that he respected and liked me, but that there was something that undoubtedly needed to be addressed and corrected. He had a way of putting things in perspective and normalizing things that might otherwise be tough to handle. I reflect on his supervision with a respect and admiration for his style and skill.
I’m leaving this here because I didn’t know how else to contact you! Take care!
